More speculation today surrounds the whereabouts of Precious (née Push: Based on a Novel by Sapphire), the celebrated, Benjamin Bratt-terrifying drama that won last month's Sundance Film Festival before tumbling into bidding-war lawsuit limbo.

• Alex Rodriguez may be moving into 15 Central Park West, after all. Six months after reports surfaced that the scandal-plagued slugger was looking to buy a four-bedroom in the building comes word that he has his eye on a two-bedroom, $30,000-a-month rental. • Eve Weinstein, the ex-wife of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, has lowered the price of her sixth-floor apartment at 1133 Fifth Avenue, which she first put on the market back in December for $13.5 million. • Moby and Stacey Bendet are on the hunt for a tenant in Los Angeles. The duo teamed up in 2008 to pay $2.95 million for a Hollywood Hills property that they intended to use as a "style salon" and recording studio. It's now available for $15,000 a month. [Real Estalker]

Despite seeing the threat coming, the Weinstein Company never bothered to dodge a new lawsuit from the surviving half of Sam & Dave — the allegedly uncredited sources for last year's bomb Soul Men.

Sundance darling Push is at the center of a bitter tug-of-war, with The Weinstein Company filing multiple suits against Lionsgate and Cinetic, the company that brokered the deal, alleging fraud and breach of contract.

Entertainment Weekly's recent article on The Reader's Oscar chances featured a funny/sad quote by Harvey Weinstein, in which he compared himself to Billy the Kid. It's been a popular quote! Because it's very silly.

It didn't take much imagination to see Harvey Weinstein wielding the whip hand two weeks ago when theSlumdog Millionaire backlash commenced. At least not as much imagination as Harvey summoned to deny it.

Armin Amiri's Socialista was shuttered last month, the result of a crackdown by the Department of Health, a hang-up over the club's liquor license, and, according to Amiri, a lack of enthusiasm on the part of his investors, who include Harvey Weinstein and Sting. The good news? Socialista's closing will give Amiri more time to focus on his acting career! He says he's already landed a part in a new movie called The Imperialists Are Still Alive. Given the amount of money that was invested in Socialista and eventually lost, we're going to go ahead and assume The Weinstein Company won't be producing. [NYO]

In the spirit of fairness for those many times we called the Academy out for its general Oscar-nominating ineptitude, let's all commend its members' fine taste today in snubbing the utterly despicable Revolutionary Road.

This morning's Oscar nominations offered a desperately needed opportunity to pare this season's awards also-rans from the ranks of the contenders. Alas, it just means higher-stakes hype and drama for the lucky ones:

• Hijinks at the Golden Globes: Leonardo DiCaprio asked CAA to construct a ladder so he could sneak into the agency's dinner last Friday and avoid the press. Adrian Grenier and Paris Hilton were denied entry to another event. And Harvey Weinstein appears to be smoking again: He was spotted taking cigarettes out of Hilary Swank's purse. [P6]

A note taped to Defamer HQ's door greeted us this morning — not an eviction notice as we feared, but rather just another Weinstein news dump announcing Inglourious Basterds' [sic] eyebrow-raising late-summer '09 release date.

There will be no Christmas miracle for Project Runway fans who have been hoping that season six, which has been in reality TV limbo due to an unseemly tussle between The Weinstein Company, NBC Universal, and Lifetime, will soon grace our screens. Yesterday a judge rejected as "untimely" Lifetime's attempt to move the fight from New York state court to federal court, a small victory for NBC, which is claiming producer Harvey Weinstein had no right to sell the show to Lifetime. If only the judge had exercised the power and wisdom of King Solomon, we'd know who truly deserved to own this particular multi-headed, campy, and colorful baby. [Variety]

• Nobody makes Harvey Weinstein wait and that apparently includes Penelope Cruz, who faced his wrath in London last week when she showed up late to a screening of Vicky Cristina Barcelona, then went up to her suite to change outfits, causing Harvey to scream, "Tell her to get her f***ing ass here right now!"
