hillary-clinton

Taylor Berman · 04/10/14 04:39PM

A woman was taken into custody this afternoon after throwing an object, described by the woman as a shoe, at Hillary Clinton during a speech in Las Vegas. Clinton wasn't hit—she ducked—and later joked about the incident.

Bill Clinton’s Body Man Is a Pathetic, Greedy Grifter

J.K. Trotter · 09/23/13 03:46PM

Yesterday, The New Republic published a mammoth profile of Doug Band, Bill Clinton's longtime body man and all-purpose Clintonland gatekeeper, a 40-year-old Floridian-turned-New Yorker with a taste for luxury. Senior writer Alec MacGillis describes how Band, from his toehold as a gofer and coat-holder, shamelessly traded on his access to the former President to amass millions of dollars, an enormous Manhattan apartment, and cushy appointments on corporate boards. The piece documents and perhaps implements the rest of the Clinton family's desire, after all these years, to get him out—presumably before he can damage Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential prospects.

Clinton Mistress Backing Hillary, Selling Hillary-Is-a-Lesbian Rumors

J.K. Trotter · 09/19/13 12:16PM

Bill Clinton's mistress is back! No, not that one—or that one. The other one! Gennifer Flowers has a new internet column, and to promote it she's there in the Daily Mail, the only appropriate outlet, giving away some ancient Hillary-is-a-lesbian "gems" and endorsing the de facto Democratic candidate for president:

What’s This Times Piece About the Clintons Saying?

J.K. Trotter · 08/14/13 05:50PM

Early this morning, the New York Times unveiled a 2,878-word, A1 investigation into the Clinton Foundation, the eponymous philanthropic arm of the Clinton family’s equally unquenchable ambitions. “PAPER TAKES DOWN CLINTON FOUNDATION,” Drudge trumpeted; “devastating,” The Telegraph gasped. Uh, but: the piece doesn’t seem to have much of a point. Is the Times trying to say something it can’t print?

Are the Benghazi Hearings as Revelatory as the GOP Wanted?

Maggie Lange · 05/08/13 04:20PM

At the Benghazi hearings being held today in Washington, prominent Republicans and witnesses are criticizing the Obama administration's response to last year's attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. The attack on the compound last year on September 11, killed four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

GOP House Declares Bullshit War on a Popular Clinton, Again

Adam Weinstein · 04/24/13 09:35AM

Everything old is new again. Congressional Republicans issued a report on the 2012 Benghazi consulate attacks yesterday that basically blames then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for everything—and calls her a liar to boot.

Weiner Might Run for Mayor This Year: Three Questions About His Comeback Profile

Max Read · 04/10/13 07:47AM

Watch out for former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner on the New York mayoral ballot this year. He's been consulting with pollsters and advisers, and gauging his chances, and in a long comeback profile appearing in this weekend's New York Times Magazine looks to be leaning toward "yes": "[I]t's now or maybe never for me, in terms of running for something," he says. (Weiner—you might remember—got in some trouble two years ago after accidentally tweeting a (clothed) photograph of his engorged member to his 60,000 followers; it came out over the course of several agonizing and hilarious days that he had been cybering with several women he'd met online, though never in person.)

Cowardice As a Political Philosophy

Hamilton Nolan · 03/26/13 11:19AM

The tenth anniversary of the Iraq War was marked by a procession of mostly liberal pundits solemnly apologizing for supporting the ill-fated invasion in the first place. As the issue of gay marriage goes in front of the Supreme Court, we're treated to the sight of the former president who signed the Defense of Marriage Act arguing that it should be overturned. Let's talk about what courage and cowardice in politics really mean.

Hacked Emails Show Hillary Clinton Was Receiving Advice at a Private Email Account From Banned, Obama-Hating Former Staffer

John Cook · 03/20/13 03:39PM

As the Smoking Gun and others have reported, a hacker calling himself (or herself) "Guccifer" claims to have compromised the email account of former Clinton aide Sidney Blumenthal, revealing memos that Blumenthal purportedly wrote to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about Benghazi and other matters. What seems to have escaped notice is that Blumenthal, a fierce Clinton partisan in the 1990s, was the orchestrator of a subterranean smear campaign against Obama during the Democratic primary and was specifically spiked by the White House as a potential staffer for Clinton when she became Secretary of State. And he was sending notes to Clinton at a private, non-governmental email address. Did Obama know Clinton was consulting with the guy who tried to kneecap him?

Hillary Clinton Announces Support of Gay Marriage

Max Read · 03/18/13 10:47AM

Hillary Clinton did not, apparently, before this morning, officially support gay marriage; now, she announces in this YouTube video, she does. And only three days after conservative Republican Senator Rob Portman, too. And four years after Dick Cheney.

Obama, Clinton, Biden, Jay-Z Doxxed: 'Hackers' Snag Financial Records, Socials, Credit Reports

Taylor Berman · 03/12/13 07:20AM

A group of apparently Russian hackers, working on the website "exposed.su," claims to have published the private personal information of—or "doxxed"—17 politicians and celebrities. Victims include Michelle Obama, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Attorney General Eric Holder, FBI Director Robert Mueller, all of whom had credit reports posted to the website, as well as Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden, whose social security numbers were published.

Hillary Clinton and Our National Chick Threat

Mobutu Sese Seko · 01/28/13 11:30AM

If you want a clear picture of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Benghazi testimony before Congress last week, skip the full ordeal on C-SPAN and watch the laborious spin attempt in the aftermath. It was a risible experience, born of incoherence and quickly metastasizing into cheap tropes of feminine wiles. Clinton could only have been more treacherous and deadly if she'd walked into the GOP's office and hired it for $25 per day, plus expenses, to find her missing brother.
