Now's Your Chance To Talk to James Cameron and Jane Goodall About Science

Mallory Ortberg · 01/13/13 01:29PM

Everyone could do with a little extra science today, if only to distract themselves from the blank and empty yawn that is a Sunday afternoon. To celebrate their 125th anniversary, National Geographic is hosting a free-for-all interview with James Cameron, Robert Ballard, Jane Goodall and "explorers in the field on every continent." You can join the conversation here; explorers will be taking questions for the next hour.

Watch Comedian Eric André Torture and Disorient Demi Lovato

Rich Juzwiak · 01/07/13 04:05PM

X Factor judge/former Disney Channel staple/occasionally troubled young woman Demi Lovato recently appeared on Adult Swim's Eric André Show, and confusion ensued. Engulfed by machine-made fog and holding a plate of spaghetti for some of the time, Lovato was asked to confirm several shows she was on and was told she would be tested for her "Satan thetan levels." An '80s rock icon showed up, throwing her further off kilter. This is prankish and juvenile on André's part, and yet Lovato has rarely seemed this human in public, even if she says little more than, "Really?" "Um?" "Yeah." and "What?" for the duration of the "interview."

Barbra Streisand Gives Perfect Interview to the Times, Is Perfect

Mallory Ortberg · 12/09/12 02:05PM

Buried within the Movie section of this weekend's New York Times is an interview with Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen, who are promoting their upcoming project The Guilt Trip, a movie about which I have no opinion. Between the title ("It's a road trip with a physical destination, yes, but it's also an emotional trip, you know?") and the awful winking posters plastered everywhere, it seems safe to say it will not be good, but nothing is certain. That said, this interview is full of absolute treasures, every single one of which falls from Barbra Streisand's lips. Seth Rogen said things too, but they are of no interest for our purposes (he likes working but also being at home, he seems smart and unobjectionable and I have nothing else to say on the matter).

Jude Law Finally Ugly Enough to Act, T Magazine Announces

Mallory Ortberg · 12/01/12 01:27PM

Crumbling Time-Prince Jude Law wants the world to know he's perfectly happy to at long last to look like a disgusting skin monster just like everyone else. With his recent conversation with T Magazine ("Who Are You Calling Pretty Boy"), Law has finally completed the ancient ritual of the Aging Male Beauty interview, declaring his utter relief to have finally slid into human levels of attractiveness.

Bratty or Subversive?: Honey Boo Boo Derails TV Interview Again

Rich Juzwiak · 10/16/12 10:25AM

Despite their show's hiatus, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo's sometimes titular Alana and her mother June are making more media rounds. They were on KTLA yesterday morning Jimmy Kimmel last night. Toward the end of the former interview, Alana wouldn't stop singing (to be fair, her mother prompted her) and otherwise causing a ruckus that derailed the interview, just like she did a few months ago on Anderson Live. Here's where keeping it real becomes utterly obnoxious. At the same time, it is refreshing to see someone openly reject bullshit morning-show questions, even if that someone in question is a 7 year old.

Nobody Asked Michele Bachmann or Meghan McCain to Prom

Maureen O'Connor · 12/01/11 04:00PM

In her new role as MSNBC's junior nepotism correspondent (reporting to senior nepotism correspondent Luke Russert) Meghan McCain interviewed Michele Bachmann. Among Meghan's hard-hitting questions: What were you like high school?

Casey Anthony's Dad: 'I Don't Want to Believe It'

Maureen O'Connor · 09/12/11 04:45PM

Professional concern troll Dr. Phil scored the first interview with Casey Anthony's parents George and Cindy by "donating" to "Caylee's fund," a non-profit they run. The elder Anthonys say they haven't seen their daughter since her release from jail, then tearily dance around the details of what Casey did or didn't do. Does George think Casey hid his granddaughter's body in the trunk of her car?
