George W. Bush, Just Eatin' Souffle With His Buddies

Jim Newell · 05/13/11 11:42AM

George W. Bush, fresh off of his personal killing of Osama bin Laden with a golden six-shooter for which he deserves all credit, has finally commented in public about the dead Al Qaeda leader. The old galoot was booked at "a conference of hedge fund managers in Las Vegas" on Wednesday, and while he and the other thousand hookers were putting on their faces for the night, he was able to spare a few quotes.

Man Allegedly Opens Fire on Reality Show

Max Read · 04/26/11 07:29PM

Be aware! Despite what you may think/hope, shooting a gun at a reality show is, in fact, illegal, as 40-year-old Las Vegan Carlos Barron learned on Monday night following an unfortunate altercation with the seven-person crew filming Spike's Repo Games. It seems Barron had been yelling at the driver of a van parked in front of his home; the Repo Games crew allegedly saw him hit the driver, and approached to intervene. Barron responded by drawing a handgun and firing "multiple shots." He then barricaded himself in his home before fleeing through a window, eventually being apprehended by a police dog. No one was hurt in the incident. [Las Vegas Sun]

Sahara Hotel & Casino Returns to the Desert Sands

Hamilton Nolan · 03/11/11 04:18PM

The Sahara Hotel and Casino, one of the anchors of old Las Vegas, where Sinatra sang and the Rat Pack played, is closing, due to money problems. It's been around since 1952. It's seen the entire rise and fall of the Las Vegas legend unfold, and its loss will be, in many ways, a sad sign of a once-great desert oasis kingdom returning, slowly, to the very sands from which it came.

Vegas Casino Heists: Remarkably Unsuccessful

Hamilton Nolan · 02/25/11 05:28PM

Las Vegas police have arrested two men in connection with yesterday's heist of $32,000 in chips from the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. The driver's been arrested; the man who police say received more than half of the stolen chips has been arrested; and police are searching for Steven Gao, who they say pulled the stick-up heist himself. These arrests come just weeks after 29 year-old Anthony Carleo was arrested for his spectacularly not-well-thought-out heist of $1.5 million in chips from the Bellagio.

Is This Glass-Encased Las Vegas Hotel a Giant 'Death Ray'?

Adrian Chen · 09/29/10 01:31AM

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Unless what happens in Vegas is that a glass-encased, concave hotel creates a "death ray" of concentrated sunlight and burns a guest. This is something everyone should know about.
