Will It Ever Be "Cool" For Women to Smoke Marijuana?

Hamilton Nolan · 10/25/13 08:40AMAmericans Support Legal Pot for the First Time Ever
Sarah Hedgecock · 10/23/13 10:18AMIt's been a big year for pot, with the states of Washington and Colorado both legalizing the drug for recreational use and many more proposing legalization or already allowing it for medical reasons (or just looking the other way). And now, for the first time ever, a majority of Americans are in favor of weed's full legalization.
The Weed Fairy Just Stopped By the Gawker Office
Camille Dodero · 10/18/13 04:42PMEarlier today, we told you about the Weed Fairy, an anonymous New York City benefactor leaving free marijuana buds around Brooklyn's subway stops. It just so happens that after our post went up, the Weed Fairy magically materialized outside Gawker's Elizabeth Street office, taped a couple of Garden Breath posters on our front doors, and left a bunch of weed. This generous stoner is a woman, not a man, and the photo above is evidence of her handiwork.
Brooklyn Has a Weed Fairy
Camille Dodero · 10/18/13 01:29PMNew York is filled with scamps and scoundrels, perverts and pranksters, so when Brooklyn-via-Denver musician Travis Egedy, also known as Pictureplane, discovered a poster taped to a subway wall with a pinch of weed attached, he had to wonder: Could this gift be for real? And more importantly, should he smoke it?

Rich Juzwiak · 09/18/13 02:00PMIt's rare to watch a stoner comedy and think that its director will make a great interview. But Newlyweeds, writer-director Shaka King's independent comedy/drama (opening today at New York's Film Forum), is a rare kind of movie, one that depicts lives and relationships you see infrequently (if at all, on film), and there's an urgency to King's voice underneath the weedy, mellow vibe.

Cord Jefferson · 06/25/13 07:40PMHere's a crazy idea: A Michigan man convicted of having a large quantity of pot—a plant that everyone smokes to get a little high now and again—was recently given probation by a judge who thought it stupid to send a guy to jail for years just because he got busted growing weed. Wow. Can America survive this kind of insanely rational justice?
