Hamilton Nolan · 04/26/12 09:41AMWhy Is This Marine Platoon Associated with Nazi Iconography?
Maureen O'Connor · 02/09/12 06:24PMThe release of images of U.S. Marines with a Nazi SS flag has forced the U.S. Marine Corps to announce two things: First, that it does not condone the use of Nazi iconography. Second, that it is possible to have "no malicious intent" when displaying the SS symbol because some Marines have reinterpreted it to symbolize "Scout Sniper."

Wow, "don't ask, don't tell" fell and now soldiers making gay porn is just hunky dory.
Obama Grabs a Beer With New Medal of Honor Recipient
Max Read · 09/14/11 06:55PMYou know when you get into an unfamiliar city for some stupid work thing and you're desperately trying to remember who you know who lives there? That apparently happened with 23-year-old Marine veteran Dakota Meyer, whose "stupid work thing" tomorrow is "being awarded the Medal of Honor." So he did what any self-respecting living Medal of Honor recipient would (there have only been two since Vietnam): He called the president.

Internet Celebrates Small-Town Police for Squelching Free Speech
Adrian Chen · 04/26/11 05:46PMThe feel-good blog item of the day is the story of when the small town of Brandon, Mississippi successfully foiled Westboro Baptist Church's plan to protest a Marine's funeral. (Here is a video of the refreshingly protester-free road as Marine Staff Sgt. Jason Rogers is returned home on April 14.) How'd they do it? They sicced the police on them and beat them up.
