Jon Stewart Chronicles Mitt Romney's Latest Bumblings and Rick Santorum's Latest Insanity

Matt Toder · 02/27/12 11:30PM

Boy were Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum up to some crazy stuff this weekend. Romney couldn't get out of his own way in Michigan, apparently he thought mentioning all the cars his wife drives and all his NASCAR team-owning buddies would help him not seem like an elitist. And Rick Santorum railed against college because being dumb is preferable now. On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart broke it all down.

Ron Paul to Santorum: "WTF?"

Louis Peitzman · 02/26/12 09:52AM

Yesterday, Republican maybe-frontrunner Rick Santorum made minor waves by repeating allegations that his opponents Mitt Romney and Ron Paul were in cahoots.

Mitt Romney Is Just Like You, People Who Own Multiple Cadillacs

Louis Peitzman · 02/25/12 02:07PM

Self-proclaimed "car guy" Mitt Romney accidentally outed himself as being super rich at Ford Field in Detroit. (Detroit: good place to advertise love of cars, bad place to advertise excessive wealth.) Turns out he and his wife drive multiple cars, which — while not surprising — doesn't help with the accusation that he is out of touch with the common man. USA Today brings us some analysis of the damage done by Romney's car tally.

Watch Stephen Colbert Convert All Dead Mormons to Judaism

Matt Toder · 02/24/12 12:09AM

It recently came to Stephen Colbert's attention that the Mormons have a habit of baptizing dead Jews; even though the Church claimed to stop this practice, Anne Frank was apparently baptized for the tenth time last week. So Colbert only had one sensible choice, retaliation-wise: to convert all the dead Mormons to Judaism.

Jon Stewart Can't Believe He Is Still Surprised By the Republican Candidates

Matt Toder · 02/23/12 11:32PM

On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart turned his attention to last night's Republican debate. Besides being miffed that we've had to endure twenty of these events, Stewart also couldn't believe Mitt Romney misquoting Seinfeld, Rick Santorum's reasonable explanations and the one word each candidate used to define himself.

Why Do Mormons, Including Mitt Romney's Wife, Love Pinterest?

Adrian Chen · 02/21/12 06:10PM

Earlier today, Mitt Romney's official Twitter account linked to his wife Ann's profile on the social network everyone is talking about, Pinterest. Ann Romney is now the most famous Mormon on Pinterest—but far from the first. Pinterest is so popular with Mormons it's practically the Utah of social networks. Why? Let's investigate.

What Is Mary Romney Dressed Up as in This Picture?

Maureen O'Connor · 02/21/12 10:43AM

As the Romney clan scrambles to clean up its social media presence, Buzzfeed reporter and Mormon whisperer McKay Coppins highlights the "Mormon mommy blog" of Mary Romney, daughter-in-law of Mitt and wife of Craig. Mary made her blog private when Coppins came asking questions, which is really too bad, because now we don't the context of this 2007 Halloween photo. Apparently Craig is "dressed as his dad," but what the hell is Mary?

Jon Stewart Examines Romney's Michigan Problem and Santorum Gets Sprayed with Santorum

Matt Toder · 02/16/12 11:31PM

On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart took a look at the latest challenges facing Republican candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum. Romney has a Michigan problem considering that he once endorsed letting Detroit fail completely and now is running ads with blatant non-truths in them. Santorum has his own problems, most notably getting sprayed with a Santorum-like substance in ads he produced. He never will learn, will he?

Is Romney Conservative Enough for Sarah Palin?

Louis Peitzman · 02/12/12 11:43AM

Everyone's favorite pundit and reality star Sarah Palin has yet to endorse a Republican presidential candidate. (But Sarah, there are so many great options to choose from.) The Washington Times has an article about Palin's appearance on Fox News Sunday, where she (predictably) pondered the question of Romney's conservatism.

Ron Paul Aims to Keep Screwing With Romney

Louis Peitzman · 02/11/12 04:46PM

Can we always call him "feisty Ron Paul" the way Steve Peoples of the Associated Press does? In an AP article republished by MSNBC, Paul reflects on his chances in Maine, which he believes are good. Romney can probably stand to lose another one of these caucuses, right? And a Paul win would bring his name back into the discussion, as we cycle between the final four unelectable Republican presidential candidates.

How Mark Zuckerberg Accidentally Endorsed Mitt Romney on Facebook

Ryan Tate · 02/08/12 02:41PM

Sometimes you do something on Facebook — comment, post a link, "like" a status message — and it gets totally misinterpreted. And amid the backlash from family, friends, and strangers, you just have to be, like, "Facebook is fucked up, not my problem." Mark Zuckerberg doesn't have that luxury.

Romney Wins Nevada Caucus, Obviously

Louis Peitzman · 02/05/12 09:51AM

Sorry, Newt, but we all saw this coming — Mitt Romney won the Nevada caucus on Saturday, further establishing his position as Republican frontrunner and thorn in Gingrich's side. But rather than focus on the man he's been debating, Romney took some jabs at Obama.
