For us, the viewing public, Jersey Shore is the Platonic ideal of train-wreck television, but for MTV, the network that's trying to profit from it, the show is looking like more of a disaster with paltry ratings and advertiser headaches.
MTV's latest reality series, Jersey Shore, has some people—such as really humorless Italian-Americans—pretty pissed, as you may have heard. Before the show even debuted, Unico National, the same group that repeatedly criticized HBO over The Sopranos, issued a statement to the media lambasting the program. It's since lined up support from several other Italian-American community groups and convinced at least two advertisers—Domino's and American Family Insurance—to stop advertising on the show.
• Diane Sawyer has confirmed that she will end her decade-long run as co-anchor of Good Morning America this week. Friday's her last day. [LAT]
• Meanwhile, Chris Cuomo's role at ABC is up in the air. He's denied rumors he plans to jump to NBC, and may end up as co-anchor of 20/20. [NYDN, prev]

Last week, MTV announced its newest series, Jersey Shore, which it promises will feature the "hottest, tannest, craziest guidos" in the Jerz.
