Emma Carmichael · 02/23/12 11:16AM

There are certain things we hold sacred in this world, and one is that our Internet porn logins, should we choose to have them, will be protected from the public eye. But nothing is sacred anymore, people: A security breach has exposed emails and passwords of more than a million chat users for the porn site YouPorn.com.

If Sacha Baron Cohen Wants to Attend the Oscars, He'll Have to Play By The Academy's Boring Rules

Emma Carmichael · 02/23/12 10:42AM

Sacha Baron Cohen just received some great free publicity for his new comedy, The Dictator, courtesy of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Deadline Hollywood reported last night that the actor had been "banned" from the awards show on Sunday because he'd been planning on showing up dressed as his next character, an anti-democratic dictator named General Aladee.

Russian Billionaire Rapping on Russian TV Show is Actually A Lot Like an SNL Sketch

Emma Carmichael · 02/22/12 05:52PM

SNL's on a rerun week, so the writers have plenty of time to prepare for the return of LiLo on March 3. But here's a quick sketch pitch: Replace Russian oligarch and presidential candidate Mikhail Prokhorov with Fred Armisen and run this actual segment from an actual Russian comedy show word-for-word. Do not change the set. Do not change the words. Do not change the way they all bob their heads to the beat. Do nothing. In fact, maybe just get the rights and lift the entire thing. This is perfect as it is.

Someone Cut Off Adele's BRIT Awards Speech, So Adele Flipped Everyone Off

Emma Carmichael · 02/21/12 07:04PM

When your country's national musical treasure returns home to London after winning six Grammys and endearing herself to millions of bitter, cynical Americans with a single snort, it is probably in best practice to allow said treasure a fair number of seconds to bask in the moment of winning Album of the Year at her homeland's biggest music awards show. If you don't, said treasure can always flip everyone off on national television.

Why Do Mormons, Including Mitt Romney's Wife, Love Pinterest?

Adrian Chen · 02/21/12 06:10PM

Earlier today, Mitt Romney's official Twitter account linked to his wife Ann's profile on the social network everyone is talking about, Pinterest. Ann Romney is now the most famous Mormon on Pinterest—but far from the first. Pinterest is so popular with Mormons it's practically the Utah of social networks. Why? Let's investigate.

The Driver vs. Bicyclist Fight is Way More Violent in England

Emma Carmichael · 02/17/12 01:51PM

Urban biking is dangerous, and especially so when drivers are going out their way to decapitate you. This video, taken from a CCTV camera in Bristol, England, shows bus driver Gavin Hill intentionally swerving into cyclist Philip Mead. Mead landed 10 feet away with a broken leg and a fractured wrist, and Hill has reportedly been sentenced to 17 months in jail.

The Non Sports Fan’s Guide to Jeremy Lin

Emma Carmichael · 02/15/12 10:03AM

LINSANITY! is sweeping the nation, and you're still fairly certain that that's not even a word. That's OK; it's not, really. But every now and then, a figure from the sports world emerges, words are invented (remember Tebowing?), and the athlete in question very quickly becomes impossible to ignore—even for non sports fans. This month, the unavoidable sports guy is Jeremy Lin, a 23-year-old Harvard grad and NBA player.

I Asked Sarah Palin the Dumbest Question Ever: How to Become Another 'Obedient Little Troll' at CPAC

Emma Carmichael · 02/14/12 11:35AM

Herman Cain, listed in the official program as "Former CEO, Godfather's Pizza," took the stage at about 4:30 on Thursday at the Woodley Park Marriott in Washington, D.C. It was day one of the Conservative Political Action Conference, and he was the main attraction. There had been a long line throughout the lobby before his scheduled appearance. It was an earnest crowd. The prevailing concern at the conference (I overheard one college student saying) was with showing people it was cool to be an American.

The Grammys Are Better Than the Oscars Now

Drew Magary · 02/13/12 03:40PM

I was watching the Grammys last night because I had nothing better to do, and it dawned on me that, for all of the Grammys' shortcomings (and there are many), I enjoyed watching that telecast FAR more than I've enjoyed watching any Oscars telecast over the past 10 or 20 years. Here's why:

Protesters Occupy Palin Speech, Get Thrown Out As Crowd Chants 'Sarah' and 'USA'

Emma Carmichael · 02/11/12 06:12PM

Sarah Palin delivered what was essentially the cherry-on-top to CPAC this evening, just after the American Conservative Union announced that Mitt Romney had won the conference's annual straw poll. Palin turned 48 today, and the birthday girl was, by far, the conference's darling. ACU chairman Al Cardenas called her speech the "perfect, perfect ending" after the crowds had parted, and she was given more than 10 standing ovations by a capacity crowd.
