Texas Vet Fired After Posting About Cat She'd Allegedly Killed
A Texas veterinarian has been fired and is under investigation after posting a photograph of herself holding up a dead cat to Facebook, My San Antonio reports. The woman also bragged about having killed the cat with a bow and arrow.
“My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it’s [sic] head! Vet of the year award...Gladly accepted,” Kristen Lindsey, who had been employed at the Washington Animal Clinic in Brenham, wrote in the now-deleted post.
An animal rescue group in Brenham told KBTX that the cat was not feral, but was being fostered by an elderly couple.
“This is a very disturbing photograph,” Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes told My San Antonio. “I think it’s something our society can do without.”
KBTX reports that Lindsey is not without her supporters. “She’s amazing. She’s caring,” one woman, who dropped off balloons and a thank you note at the Washington Animal Clinic, said. “She’s a good vet, so maybe her bad choice of posting something on Facebook was not good. But I don’t think she should be judged for it.”
“All these people in the cities just don’t understand what goes on in the country and they get in an uproar,” said another. “They ought to just mind their own business.”
