Wedding Crunchers Lets You Hate-Search Decades of NYT Weddings
Don't hate-read the New York Times "Weddings and Celebrations" section without Wedding Crunchers, a new database that lets you search through 60,000 announcements from 1981 to 2013, and watch status symbols rise and fall, like a curtseying debutante, over time.
The site was built by the engineering team behind Rap Genius, by plotting "n-gram frequency" in order to "visualize trends across 30+ years of yuppie nuptials." It's like our own dearly departed Altarcations column, except backed the computing power of big data.
