Wind Sends Bounce House Flying Through Sky, Injuring Two Toddlers
Two toddlers were injured, one critically, after the bounce house they were playing in was picked up by a gust of wind and sent flying through the air before crashing back down to the ground. One father told reporters he was informed by a volunteer at Sullivan's Farm in Nashua, NH that the structure was open and free to play on; farm officials say the bounce was being dried from a cleaning and wasn't tied down.
"We see the bouncy house come up off the ground and slam right back down to the place that it was and then it takes off about 60-70 feet in the air, and it travels maybe about 100-150 feet away and slams both of our children down into the ground," Brian, a father of one of the injured young boys, told WMUR.
The two boys, ages two and three, were injured after the bounce house crashed. Firefighters had to rescue them after the two became trapped in the structure. The two-year-old was flown to a hospital in Boston with critical injuries, the Associated Press reports.
"This is so unfortunate. It wasn't meant to be used. I just hope the kids are OK," Gary Bergeron, the farm's co-owner, told WMUR. Farm officials also told the TV station that "no one working or volunteering at the farm gave any visitor permission to enter the bouncy house."
