Women's Wear Daily's resident goliath Jeff Bercovici reports that with Grove's contract up in September, many are speculating that Grove may jump to the Post's Page Six. Considering Martin Dunn called Grove a "fucking idiot" in a letter to People managing editor Larry Hackett back in October, one could see how Grove might want to cross over to enemy lines.

When the Observer first suggested back in October that Grove would slide on over to the Post, he claimed everything in their piece was wrong, save for the spelling of his name. Last month, when he was spotted dining with Col Allan at Elaine's, Grove dodged the issue, noting that he has never "dined" with Allan but has most certainly drunk with him. We also have it under good authority that Allan is trying to bring some new blood to Page Six, likely as part of his effort to "tighten ship" in the seas of payola.

But still — is now really the best time to head over to the house of Six? We seem to remember someting about the FBI investigating the column's practices. Conventional wisdom would lead one to avoid moving towards the a shitstorm, but Grove just might be heading right to the middle of one. Then again, the Lloyd works in mysterious ways.
