Today's Page Six takes a stand against the creeping commercialization of public spaces in New York while chastising a news organization for unseemly gloating. Under the hed "Desperate Sign," the Sixers report that:

NBC is rubbing its ratings in ABC's face. The Peacock Network hung a huge banner across from ABC headquarters on West 67th Street to crow that it's No. 1 in the morning and evening with the "Today" show and "Nightly News With Brian Williams." An ABC insider sniffed, "Maybe if they spent that money on the staff they've been firing as opposed to some sophomoric stunt, they'd be in better shape. We didn't realize that layoffs of 700 people and billboards were part of their strategy." An NBC source shrugged, "It's another place in the city that became available to advertise."

Right on! There's nothing more annoying than mocking your competitors for all New York to see.
