HP Donates Thousands to Former CEO's Opponent
Out in California, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina is running for Senate as a Republican against terrible liberal Barbara Boxer. And her former company is, for some reason, donating a lot of money to Boxer.
Boxer got the maximum $10,000 from HP's PAC, including $3,000 in the last quarter of 2009. Fiorina, HP CEO from 1999-2005 (when she was fired) received $250 from one HP manager.
Carly was paid by the John McCain campaign to go around being a big famous successful CEO who proved that John McCain totally understood and cared about business (he doesn't, really) but she was actually not much of an asset to that hilarious campaign, even leaving aside the fact that her tenure as CEO was kind of disastrous and the company became much more valuable once they fired her.
(She is also now facing a primary battle from Tea Party-affiliated bona fide conservative Chuck DeVore, who has received $2,400 from HP heiress Arianna Packard herself.)
