Al Pacino and Robert De Niro Indistinguishable Even to Movie Directors
Al Pacino steps into Robert De Niro's Italian leather shoes. Amanda Bynes' sex comedy. Judd Apatow forsakes the bromance for Kristen Wiig. Erector Sets' movie adaptation is not a soft-core porn. The Trade Roundup just ate an entire frittata.
•Robert De Niro was too good or something for Son of No One—the cop thriller directed by Dito Montiel. Unfortunately, cloning science has not yet advanced to the point where it was feasible to create an exact replica of De Niro for the role. Next best thing: Al Pacino. Pacino has signed on to replace De Niro in the film, which will likely also star Channing Tatum, Terrence Howard, Ray Liotta and Katie Holmes. [THR]
•Amanda Bynes has signed up for the new Farrelly brothers' comedy "Hall Pass," according to Variety. She'll star along with Owen Wilson, Jenna Fischer and Jason Sudeikis. The film is about "two married couples who find themselves going through the motions and the wives give their husbands a 'hall pass' to engage in extracurricular affairs." You've come a long way from The Amanda Show, Amanda. [Variety]
•Love her or hate her, SNL's Kristen Wiig has got a movie! It will be directed by Judd Apatow and produced by Paul Feig, who you will remember were the team behind Freaks and Geeks. All we know is that "it is described as revolving around women competing to plan a friend's wedding party." Looks like Apatow is making a big move away from his dude-filled bro-downs. [Variety]
•Ha ha, this is dumb: Deadline reports that Erector Sets are become a movie. You know Erector Sets. They are like Legos for boys who have no friends and thus have nothing better to do than spend hours tightening tiny nuts and bolts and make cranes and stuff and then use the cranes to pick up their hamsters while singing to themselves a little song they made up to forget the fact they are lonely. The film will be in 3D! [Deadline]
•Jay Leno's crawling back to The Tonight Show but Kevin might not come with him. Kevin "Kevin" Eubanks is "mulling a departure from The Tonight Show, but will be onstage for Jay Leno's re-entry to the 11:35 time slot," reports TheWrap. Is Kevin on Team Coco!? [TheWrap]
•Also: Jay Leno's new old show will get a new logo that will make everyone forget about the Late Night Wars, forever. [TheWrap]
•Eugene Levy is starring in the CBS pilot Hitched. He will play "a tracksuit-wearing four-times-divorced lothario." Type-casting. [THR]
