New York Republicans want a US Senate seat, and they would like help buying it from Michael Bloomberg, mayor-for-life and richest man in town. But they have no candidates. So, looks like they're asking Mike's girlfriend to run.

Because if they convince Diana Taylor to run against Kirsten Gillibrand, Mike basically has to open up the checkbook and convince his wealthy and powerful friends to do the same, right? Sure, she "values her privacy" and all that, but I have a feeling she will not get too much negative coverage from any newspapers published by Pinch Sulzberger, Mort Zuckerman, or Rupert Murdoch.

Sadly this will probably not actually happen. It is apparently just way too much trouble for anyone serious to bother running for office in New York this year.
