Apple hates people walking off with its iPhones, but it's hard to imagine CEO Steve Jobs going as far as Roger Witter. The Oregon illustrator fired two rounds at thieves stealing iPhones from an AT&T store.

When Witter was waiting at the counter of a Gresham, Oregon AT&T store, two young men grabbed four iPhones and ran out the front door, according to the Portland Oregonian. Witter chased after them, dropped to one knee outside the store, pulled out a five-shot Smith & Wesson .38-caliber revolver, and fired at the front tire of the getaway car. The car swerved, Witter fired again, and missed again. When the police arrived, they eventually arrested Witter, saying the bullets could have hit anyone. (There was no issue with him carrying the weapon concealed, since he had a permit for that.)

Witter, meanwhile, told local news station KGW, "I would do it again... I never pointed my weapon at anybody. The shots were controlled shots at the car." Or rather, controlled misses in the direction of the car. Probably best not to apply for Apple security, Mr. Witter.
