Media mogul Mort Zuckerman is "clarifying" his claim that he helped write one of Barack Obama's speeches, after White House speechwriters said they had never met or spoken to him. He merely meant... uhh... that he supports Obama or something?

Zuckerman, publisher of the New York Daily News and US News and World Report, has posted this vague, comical statement on the latter's website:

Over the years I have been asked by various public officials, including those in Washington, for my perspectives and views on numerous issues. These conversations have always been considered confidential. My point in noting during a recent television interview that I had once "helped" contribute to one of Barack Obama's campaign speeches was to reflect the fact that my recent criticisms of the president came from someone who had been supportive of him, who had voted for him, and whose newspaper endorsed him. I continue to hope for his and the country's success.

So when he said that he helped write one of Barack Obama's speeches, he didn't mean it so literally, you humorless drones! He just meant that he is really powerful and Barack Obama probably listens to him, because of said power, which comes from a friendly place. Yeah...
