Michael Bloomberg, having already delivered an eloquent defense of the Islamic community center near Ground Zero, has returned to his typical testiness. Today, for example, he told a radio host, "It's a shame we even have to talk about this."

Talking to WOR, Bloomberg tackled another common argument from Cordoba House's assailants: They won't show us all of their donors, who are probably terrorists!

"People say, ‘Well, do they have the money, can they raise the money, where is it coming from?' I don't know," Mr. Bloomberg said Friday morning on John Gambling's radio show on WOR-AM. "Do you really want every time they pass the basket in your church and you throw a buck in they run over and say, ‘O.K., where did you come from, who are your parents, where did you get this money?'"

The mayor added: "It's a handful of people who ought to be ashamed of themselves."

It's true. If you have very strong evidence that the leaders of the Cordoba Initiative are best friends with all terrorists, just call the police! The FBI or Department of Homeland Security would investigate based on your very very worthy evidence! Otherwise, why should Cordoba's leaders release to the public names of donors, who'll just get harassed by Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin for no reason until the end of time?
