Alvin Greene: 'I Was Born To Be President'
Erstwhile Senate candidate Alvin Greene was arrested in November 2009 on obscenity charges for allegedly showing pornography to a female college student. Greene had a hearing today, and it seems his loss to Sen. Jim DeMint hasn't dampened his spirits.
"Write about me running for president," Greene told the Columbia Free Times. "I'm running for president of the United States."
"I'm the next president," Greene went on. "I'll be 35 ... just before November [2012], so I was born to be president. I'm the man. I'm the man. I'm the man. Greene's the man. I'm the man. I'm the greatest person ever. I was born to be president. I'm the man, I'm the greatest individual ever."
As for the hearing, it seems Greene's lawyer never showed up. He did, however, speak with court officials and request a jury trial, which will be held next year.
Felony obscenity charges like the one Greene faces are extremely rare. Greene is accused of showing a female college student porn in a school computer lab, then suggesting they go to her dorm room. The student, Camille McCoy, told the Free-Times that the experience was so traumatic that it caused her to miss classes and lose her scholarship.
