House Republicans have released their schedule for next year's session: One week off for every two weeks on. Think of all the full weeks you'll be able to spend with your congressmen now!

Of course it wouldn't be such a bad thing if they never showed up and just sent owls to the Capitol to pull the appropriate partisan levers on each vote. But this plan doesn't sound so bad. They'll be working five-day weeks instead of the typical three, and cutting down the honorary votes that happen about every 15 minutes now. This will leave plenty of time to cut the capital gains tax several times next year.

So Washington will be very boring for weeks at a time, now. What will give the Hill staffers meaning in life during these off weeks? Nothing, just like during the on weeks.
