Ghosts Apparently Don't Like Water Slides
Britain's Thorpe Park was building a new water ride right on top of an ancient burial ground until workers started complaining about cold sensations and other ghostly feelings, so they've called in a paranormal detection agency. Great marketing scheme!
As workers started to build the new ride, called Storm Surge, they claim to have seen a headless monk and some other nonsense. The construction site is said to be on top of Monk's Walk — an ancient footpath that has linked Chertsey Abbey to Thorpe Church since the year 666AD. Ooohhh... spooky. Park director Mike Vallis spoke with the Press Association:
It became apparent that something strange was going on when teams started clearing Storm Surge's initial site. Staff reports of eerie goings-on shot up and the only physical change in the park, at that time, was the beginning of ground preparation work for the new ride."
Hmm. That's totally believable! PA also spoke to someone from South West London Paranormal, the detection agency tasked with finding ghosts at the water park:
Thorpe Park, however, was more striking as results were picked up immediately, with orbs, ghostly images in photography and ouija reaction results being strongest around the site where they were proposing to build Storm Surge.
"The results were so strong, we felt the only explanation could be that an ancient burial ground or settlement was being disturbed, prompting the extra paranormal activity."
Advance tickets for the upcoming season at Thorpe Park are now available.
