Report: Madonna Charity Targeted by Grand Jury
Roger Friedman is reporting that the Kabbalah Centre and Raising Malawi—a charity Madonna co-founded with Kabbalah guru Michael Berg—are under investigation by the IRS. According to Friedman, at least two people have been called before a grand jury to answer questions about both organizations.
It's not clear what investigators are looking into. Raising Malawi is being sued by 80 of its employees after the board was forced to scrap a planned $15 million girls school in Malawi over charges of lavish spending and lax accounting. And the Kabbalah Centre of course rips people off by selling magical bracelets and bottled water.
