Pop music thingamajig Lady Gaga published her first V magazine column and boy is she trying to school readers. Not only do they get a lesson on how she came up with her "Born This Way" video, but also a lecture on art, fashion, and literature.

Here's what Gaga has to say (or click on the image above to read it yourself):

I myself can look at almost any hemline, silhouette, bead work, or heel architecture and tell you very precisely who designed it first, what French painter they stole it from, how many designers reinvented it after them, and what cultural and musical movement parented the birth, death, and resurrection of that particular trend.

Oh, and don't worry, just like a 14 year-old with an inferiority complex and a Wikipedia login, Gaga isn't done showing off just how much she knows on her favorite subject.

I would dream of being a rock star who dressed like Mark Bolan, walked like Jerry Hall, and had the panache of Ginger from Casino and the mystery of Isabella Blow. See Footnote.

Any writer, or anyone for that matter who doesn't' understand the last two sentences of this column should NEVER be writing about or critiquing fashion or artists in publication.

Yes, Gaga, you're right. You are smarter and better and more fashionable than us in all the hours you spent studying fashion (even though you don't know that it's Marc Bolan with a C.) Yup, you're the best. Then she goes on the defensive about her influences, citing the Picasso quote "Good artists borrow, great artists steal." (Except it might have been stolen from TS Eliot, but why bother to do your homework in a column about doing your homework?) So I guess this means we can't ever tell Gaga she stole something ever again, or we're just calling her a great artist. Don't you love how that works?
