In your sunny Monday media column: Bill Keller talks mistakes, Paul Begala's new gig, HuffPo is still hiring, Glamour's flagging sales, and Jeff Zucker thinks Katie Couric is boring at night.

  • More Bill Keller exit interview, in Esquire! He sounds drunker more and more open, with every interview. On his own mistakes: "I came in well aware that we had published some bad stuff about WMD in Iraq. I should have written a fulsome mea culpa and put [Judy Miller] on a leash. Instead I waited a year to do that." Eh, he's not such a bad guy, Bill Keller. Though I am not looking forward to his op-ed page appointment-for-life! Semi-related, here is a lengthy interview of David Carr in which he explains why Bill Keller is wrong about stuff.
  • Quintessential Democratic political hack Paul Begala is joining Newsweek. Everything is different now.
  • The Huffington Post's trickling hiring spree continues: Andrei Scheinkman, formerly an "interactive news developer" at the NYT, and Jason Fields, formerly an online guy at BBC, are now working for HuffPo. They are the sponge in the sink of online journalism!
  • Glamour's newsstand sales are down 17% this year! What to do? More glamour, maybe? Or maybe just more tit.
  • ABC has officially announced its acquisition of Katie Couric's soul now. Here is hated ABC prez Ben Sherwood's memo about it. Failed NBC boss Jeff Zucker has attached himself to the project, so to speak! "It was a blast working with Katie at ‘Today' and I'm excited to do it again," said Zucker. "And besides, it should be more fun spending time with Katie at 3 or 4 in the afternoon than at 3 or 4 in the morning." That's a real quote.
