If you lock your iPhone behind a passcode, there's a good chance you've chosen from one of just 10 extremely common combinations. It's time to switch to something that actually protects your data.

Some 15 percent of iPhone passwords, according to a maker of iPhone login software, are culled from this list: 1234, 0000, 2580 (a vertical row), 1111, 5555, 5683 ("LOVE"), 0852 (a vertical row), 2222, 1212, 1998. Another big chunk are just people's easily guessed birth years. The least used numbers in codes tend to involve the numbers 7, 6, to a lesser extent 8.

Pro tip: If you change your passcode, make sure you temporarily disable the feature that wipes your phone after 10 failed logins. And remember, your lock screen doesn't protect you from stupidly uploading your most embarrassing pictures to social networks like, say, Twitter.
