The swashbuckling hacking group Lulz Security says it's teaming up with fellow hacking group Anonymous to wage war on government agencies and anyone who gets in their way. Everyone: Change all your passwords to ninety-character strings of random letters and symbols!

Lulzsec wrote the following in a statement announcing Operation Anti-Security:

Top priority is to steal and leak any classified government information, including email spools and documentation. Prime targets are banks and other high-ranking establishments. If they try to censor our progress, we will obliterate the censor with cannonfire anointed with lizard blood.

Putting aside the mechanics of how Lulzsec could "team up" with Anonymous—which repeatedly harps on the fact that it is a leaderless, amorphous organization—this should make for a pretty interesting few days on the internet. Lulzsec has already claimed to have taken down the British Serious Crimes Agency with a DDoS attack.

Financial Times journalist Joseph Menn tweets that, US Cyber Command is "aware of the reports concerning Lulz Security." They are no doubt ferociously updating their anti-virus software as we speak. And it is certainly felicitous timing for the U.S. to push for doubling the prison sentence for hackers.
