Texas Hotter Than a Ferret in Gaddafi's Taint
Congratulations Texas: You're officially hotter than a humorous image conjured by an ill-chosen newspaper headline.
Texas's past three months have been the hottest on record in the U.S., ever, with an average daily temperature of 86.8 degrees. Second place goes to Oklahoma, 2011, with 86.5 degrees. Third place also goes to Oklahoma, 1934, aka the Dust Bowl, which leveled off at an 85.2 degree average.
Nationally, it was the second-hottest summer on record, averaging 74.5 degrees. That's practically tied with the hottest on record, back in 1936. [AP, image via AP]
