The city of Hoboken, New Jersey, has denied a request for a proposed MTV Jersey Shore spinoff starring the show's boozy Lucy and Ethel JWOWW and Snooki. Damn, no one in New Jersey wants these two.

Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer sent a letter to MTV and 495 Productions (which makes Jersey Shore) saying that they will not be given a permit for the show to film in the public areas of the city, which is just over the river from Manhattan. The full letter is below (click to enlarge). She writes, "Based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents, the city has denied a film permit for a spin-off of the Jersey Shore to be filmed in public locations."

Is the "quality of life" that people in New Jersey still hate our guidettes for smearing the name of their fair state. Maybe they just don't want hoards of screaming fans clogging the city, or maybe they just don't want Hoboken associated with shirts that have breathing holes for JWOWW's fake boobs. The real issue seems to be a law that doesn't allow filming in any residential area in the city after 11pm, and since the show would be filming 24/7 (and Snooki doesn't get out of bed before 10) they would be in violation of that law without a permit. Looks like they're going to be stuck in Jersey City (which would sort of be the perfect compliment to the Jersey Shore).
