The Thai billionaire who created popular energy drink Red Bull three decades ago has died at 89. Chaleo Yoovidhya founded T.C. Pharmaceuticals, who first developed Red Bull — or as it's known in Thailand, Krathing Daeng.

Red Bull didn't become an international hit until Chaleo partnered with an Austrian company in 1984. In the time since then, Red Bull became the go-to for college students who can't stand to pop NoDoz straight — only recently being replaced by 5-Hour Energy shots.

So let's pour one out for Chaleo Yoovidhya. He helped keep us awake long, long after we should have been sleeping.
