American Apparel's Hottest New Accessory: Farmers

Comedian Fahim Anwar — member of the comedy team that brought us this response to Ashton Kutcher's racist PopChips ad — noticed a new model on the Americal Apparel website.
Among all the photos of pseudo-hipster porn was a shot of USC student Robin flanked by real-life California farmer Raul. I'm all for more ethnic diversity among American Apparel models, but this feels weirdly tone deaf. There's a thin line between exposure and exploitation.
Of course, American Apparel is no stranger to controversy — what with sexualizing children in ads, employees' racial slurs, the anti-uglies policy, Dov Charney's general sleaziness, and questionable contests. But hey, maybe this was well intentioned.
