'Messenger of the Devil' Lady Gaga Forced to Cancel Indonesia Concert
Lady Gaga's June 3 concert in Jakarta has been canceled following heightening protests and threats of violence. A group called the Islamic Defenders Front said that they would stop the concert by a pop star they refer to as the "messenger of the devil."
Not to mention the fact that Indonesian authorities weren't even sure they would give Gaga the necessary permits to perform at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, despite the fact that the show had already sold out its 52,000 tickets. Lady Gaga was told that she could perform if she toned down her act — something she obviously refused.
I mean, come on. It's like you don't know Gaga at all.
Concert promoter Big Daddy released a statement through lawyer Minola Sebayang.
With threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling off the concert. This is not only about Lady Gaga's security, but extends to those who will be watching her.
Tickets will be refunded, but that's a small consolation to Indonesia's "little monsters," who will have to find their devil-worship needs met elsewhere.
