Chihuahua Finds Missing Kids, Proves Chihuahuas Aren't Useless After All
Turns out these lap dogs aren't just for decoration: a three-year-old Chihuahua named Bell helped locate three missing girls who had gotten lost in the woods.
Eight-year-old Carlie Parga and her sister Lacey, 5, were taking their dog Lucy for a walk with Carlie's friend Victoria Baker. Being little kids and lacking a GPS, they ended up getting lost and wandering around the woods for two hours.
We tried to find our way out of the woods. We kept following paths and stuff and we got lost. We were scared we were going to get lost more.
Lucy couldn't navigate the way back home, because she wasn't a Chihuahua, apparently.
Eventually neighbor boy Carvin Young took a page from Lassie and began a search with Bell the Chihuahua. Bell was able to pick up the girls' scent and ran toward them, her tiny Chihuahua tail wagging along the way.
Mother Rebeca Parga is grateful for Bell's heroism.
A sheer blessing that she [Bell] lives across the street from us. Bell is familiar with them, and she knew they were back there, she knew my kids. That's what kept drawing her to go in that direction.
I mean, it's just as possible that Bell smelled Lucy and ran after the other dog, because that's the kind of thing a Chihuahua would do. But hey, knock yourself out and call her a miracle pup. It's a happy ending either way.
