We can stop badgering Mitt Romney to release more of his tax returns. It turns out he paid taxes — a lot of them — every year. So that's settled. Let's move on.

Of course, Romney's word might not be enough for some.

At a campaign event in Las Vegas, the Republican candidate once again responded to Harry Reid's claim that Romney is hiding something by not divulging his complete tax records.

Let me also say categorically: I have paid taxes every year. A lot of taxes. A lot of taxes.

So many taxes that he had to say "a lot" twice. I mean, that's definitely a whole bunch.

On the other hand, Romney's idea of "a lot of taxes" might not match yours. In 2010, he paid 13.9 percent on wages from capital gains and investments. That's "a lot" less than the top tax rate of 35 percent.

Romney also reiterated, "My plan is very clear: I will not raise taxes on the American people."

Anyway, we're good now, right? "Very clear" policy to not raise taxes, of which Romney has paid "a lot."
