After six months of an uneasy ceasefire, Sir Elton John last night fired shots at longtime scratching post Madonna during an interview on Australian television.

Speaking with Channel 7's Molly Meldrum, Elton lashed out at Madonna several times, asserting that her "career is over" and her tour "has been a disaster" — which he says "couldn't happen to a bigger cunt."

He went on:

If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no, she had to prove that she was like... She looks like a fucking fairground stripper. She's been horrible to Gaga.

The Sunday Night diatribe is merely the latest in a long line of public takedowns the two have exchanged over the years.

Back in January, Elton's husband David Furnish criticized the Golden Globes for awarding Madonna a Best Original Song statue, saying it was proof that "these awards have nothing to do with merit." Madonna responded by saying that Elton is "known to get mad at me," but "he'll win another award. I don't feel bad."
