Michael J. Fox may be about to end his primetime television hiatus with a little help from Arrested Development writer Sam Laybourne and Easy A director Will Gluck.

Vulture reports that the much-loved actor and his two partners are shopping a single-camera comedy to the networks, with Sony Pictures Television aiming to have the show on the air by next year.

Few plot details have been released, but The Hollywood Reporter says the project was inspired by Fox's own life.

The Family Ties/Spin City star was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991, and announced his retirement from full-time acting in 2000. Since then, he has made several guest appearances on various TV shows, and lent his voice to a number of animated features.

According to Vulture, networks are practically trampling over each other to bid for Fox's new show, and it is fully expected to receive at least a pilot production deal.

UPDATE: Vulture's Joe Adalian says Fox will be a full-time cast member of the show, and filming will take place in NYC.
