President Obama went on Orlando's Power 953 early this morning to debate, among other things, how hip is daughters are and unregistered voter Nicki Minaj's claim that she's "a republican, voting for Mitt Romney."

The verdict? Obama, a 51-year-old constitutional law nerd and aspiring teen girl, understands the limits inherent to a literal interpretation of rap lyrics better than, well, most rap and politics bloggers. It's possible, he suggests, that she didn't really mean it:

I'm not sure that is actually what happened. I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that... But, she likes to play different characters. So I don't know what's going on there.

A Minaj alter ego has not yet stepped forward to claim responsibility for the lyric, but our money's on Roman.
