Who would have thought two pop divas wouldn't be instant BFF?

Today, TMZ reported that American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are "already at each other's throats."

"These girls just don't like each other," said one source. Which is no surprise to anyone familiar with Mariah Carey's reputation, or the late-stage addition of Nicki Minaj. (Um, Mariah was told she'd be the only diva on the panel.)

According to TMZ, when producers informed Mariah Carey that she'd be joined by Nicki Minaj, Mariah hung up the phone.

We'll take the TMZ report with a grain of salt — but the press follow-up hasn't exactly vindicated either party. When asked about the feud, Carey responded, "A feud takes longer." Minaj "simply mumbled something inaudible."

On the one hand, these rumors reflect poorly on the new judges' professionalism. On the other, this beef might be the only reason to tune into American Idol again.
