As predicted here on Friday, Paul Ryan gave a pandering, non-sensical speech to the National U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance's 16th Annual Save Our Heritage Banquet. Amongst other things, the vice-presidential candidate said:

"I shudder as a gun owner ... what would (Obama) do if he never has to face the voters ever again?"

He shudders.

"The next president is going to pick a lot of judges. The next president will appoint a lot of different judges and these are lifetime appointments. If you want to make sure that judges respect our Second Amendment rights, you need a president who respects those rights as well."

Ah, yes. Obama will certainly let his socialist, gun-banning freak flag fly if re-elected. Free abortions for everyone. No more guns or rich people, ever. World peace. Etc. That will definitely happen.

And if there's one group hunters and gun owners can accurately compare themselves to, it's oppressed religious minorities.

Ryan likened gun ownership to religious liberty, suggesting that the federal government had intruded on people's First Amendment rights as well.

Yes, Republicans are always on the side of religious freedom.
