Kirstie Alley Reveals She and Patrick Swayze Had an Affair...of The Heart...While Married to Other People
In a moment of recollection ripped right out of the tenderest bit of fan fiction, Kirstie Alley has revealed in a new book that she and actor Patrick Swayze had an affair...of The Heart...while both were married to other people.
Alley described the relationship, which she insists never became physical, in an interview on Entertainment Tonight, in promotion of her new book The Art of Men, a coloring book of male nudes.
The pair met while working on the 1985 Civil War miniseries North and South, so it's kind of like they met during the Civil War.
In her book, Alley claims she propositioned Swayze one night, but that the proud son of the Confederacy turned her away.
Here's what she told Entertainment Tonight:
"We did not have an affair. But again, I think what I did was worse. Because I think when you fall in love with someone when you're married, you jeopardize your own marriage and their marriage. It's doubly bad...We were creating a future together and we were both married. After Patrick, I made a decision that I was not ever going to involve myself with anyone married."
Alley adds that, although she remained close with both Swayze and his wife Lisa Niemi—Lisa even asked her to speak at Patrick's funeral—she's not sure Niemi knew about the relationship.
Before her friend Kirstie Alley talked about it on Entertainment Tonight.
