In a profile by The National Journal's Marin Cogan, former Democratic Governor Brian Schweitzer reveals he has a special talent — for sniffing out gays. "Don't hold this against me, but I'm going to blurt it out," he told Cogan after she asked about former Majority Leader Eric Cantor's recent primary defeat.

Schweitzer, the gun-toting liberal from Montana, explained,

How do I say this ... men in the South, they are a little effeminate. They just have effeminate mannerisms. If you were just a regular person, you turned on the TV, and you saw Eric Cantor talking, I would say — and I'm fine with gay people, that's all right — but my gaydar is 60-70 percent. But he's not, I think, so I don't know. Again, I couldn't care less. I'm accepting.

Cantor married Diana Fine in 1989, and the two have three children together.

Schweitzer also shared his thoughts about Sen. Dianne Feinstein. He's "incredulous" that she accused the CIA of spying on congressional staffers after being buddy-buddy with the intelligence community.

"She was the woman who was standing under the streetlight with her dress pulled all the way up over her knees, and now she says, 'I'm a nun,' when it comes to this spying!" Schweitzer said. "I mean, maybe that's the wrong metaphor—but she was all in!"

The profile certainly doesn't help Schweitzer's long-shot chances for the presidency in 2016, but it is worth reading in its entirety. Here's his big pitch: "Elections are about the future. Can the election be about the future, if it's a Clinton that's running? Or is it about the past?"
