Actor Neil Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka were married in Italy on Saturday—they've been together more than 10 years, and engaged since 2006. NPH first made the engagement public in 2011, while celebrating New York's Marriage Equality Act.

Harris announced their wedding over Twitter Monday morning, writing "Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the 'n' and 'd' in 'husband'."

"Certainly, we have children and marriage is an appropriate thing to do [as] a part of their well being, so I'm sure it will be inevitable—and awesome!" Harris told E News last year. Their twin son and daughter, Gideon and Harper, will turn 4 next month.

Their small friends-and-family ceremony did have some celebrity guests, including Elton John, who played at the reception.

Almost everything you need to know about their relationship can be found in the 2012 Out magazine interview where NPH explains that he's the quiet one, while Burtka is like a "classically sexy" hyperactive Tigger. Burtka says of Harris, "Without him, I can't breathe. ... He makes me a little more grounded, and I bring out the wild side in him."

The rest is in that episode of Punk'd where Ashton Kutcher puts a bear in the couple's car during a rock climbing trip. Yep, Neil is definitely the grounded one (sometimes):

Congratulations to the happy couple. They waited for it, and it will be legendary.
