Prep School Author Might Tackle Socialites Next
Sheila · 08/05/08 09:35AMAnisha Lakhani, ex-teacher at Manhattan private school Dalton and author of the forthcoming Schooled—about that very world!—might write her next book about socialites, she tells the Observer. After all, the Indian-born Jersey girl has been hanging out with them lately (see exhibit A, this photo with Tinsley Mortimer) at charity dinners and the like. But maybe it's all just research:
Emily Brill A Well-Disguised Intellectual
Sheila · 07/22/08 04:14PMEmily Brill, the socialite heiressblogger, went to private Manhattan prep school Dalton. What does she have to say about the forthcoming Schooled, a novel set in a private school written by ex-Dalton teacher Anisha Lakhani? Alumni Report: Dalton Edition
cityfile · 07/08/08 12:45PMDalton was in the news last week when it was revealed that not a single graduating senior had landed a spot at Harvard. According to Page Six magazine, at Dalton's graduation ceremony last month, "one mom was heard muttering, 'I won't send my grandchildren here, that's for sure.'" Fret not, Dalton parents! A long list of notable people have walked the halls of the posh school, even a few people (like Arden Wohl, left) who don't seem to be famous for any other reason than for wearing unusual headgear and attending lots of parties. A list of other Dalton grads after the jump.

Emily Gould · 06/13/07 10:45AMPosh private school tell-alls are so hot right now! That Hotchkiss School roman a clef has been getting improbably lauded and Academy X author Andrew Trees has been getting ousted from Horace Mann—and now another insider peek at that rarefied world has sold. TABOO: A Manhattan Tutor Talks is to be an "autobiographical novel," written by an anonymous author writing under the name "Anna Taggart," whose real identity will be revealed "upon publication." Or maybe sooner. Hey, how's now?
Preppie Underground Railroad Reaches Soho
Jon · 05/06/07 08:52AMThey're tall. They think that pink, kelly, and cordovan are primary colors. They pluralize the word "philanthropy" and still insist that Trinity and Haverford are prestigious colleges. And now, after decades of wining, dining, and murdering at lame-not-lamé Upper East Side haunts like Dorrian's Red Hand, the preppies are massing downtown! All thanks to Bar Martignetti (say: "Netti") on Broome Street — founded by an eponymous set of Mario-and-Luigi brothers (profiled in the Observer last summer) — where the usual Houston hauteur has been replaced by I'm-okay-you're-okay Dalton-Horace Mann rapprochement. Allen Salkin, Christiane Amanpour of Sunday Styles, reports from the frontlines.
