Rocco: my restaurant; my reality TV show

Gawker · 06/11/03 11:39AM

Radar has an article in the summer issue about Rocco DiSpirito's new restaurant, "Rocco" and the reality TV show ("The Restaurant") it has spawned. The author speculates that the producers pack a table with DiSpirito's ex-girlfriends to make it more interesting. There may be something to that theory. A spy reports that Rocco has everyone wearing ROCCO shirts, hats, and buckles as well as pins that say "I love Rocco." At least one ex-girlfriend has snagged a pin and changed it to "I loved Rocco."

NY restaurant week

Gawker · 06/09/03 09:23AM

For the week of June 23rd, many Manhattan eateries are offering cut-price lunch menus as part of New York restaurant week. In some cases, the promotional rate isn't much cheaper than the usual prix fixe. But Craft, at $20.03 for lunch, is a bargain. For advance booking, the full list of participating restaurants is below; online reservations are through OpenTable.

Field day festival possibly cancelled

Gawker · 05/28/03 08:34AM

If you were planning on going to the Field Day Festival on Long Island, it may not be happening. (We had a link to it a couple of weeks ago, so I thought I'd pass along the information.) "Suffolk County has denied a mass gathering permit for a two-day rock concert, with Radiohead headling on June 7th in Calverton, meaning for now the event can't go ahead. County health officials denied the permit today after Riverhead Police Chief David Hegermiller said his force wouldn't be able to handle the expected crowd of 50,000." Organizers are saying everything will be straightened out and the event will happen as planned. The city's still saying "no permit."
