cityfile · 01/20/09 06:48AM

Giuseppe Cipriani hasn't been seen in New York for months, but he says that has nothing to do with the handful of investigations now underway, or because he's banned from the US. He's just "busy" and says he'll return to New York "soon." His son Ignazio has been busy, too. Obama vs. Clinton: The Youngest Guns

Owen Thomas · 01/18/09 07:02PM

If power does not corrupt, it certainly ages. The bright young things in the Obama administration will never look as good as they do now. Remember when Clinton's minions were just as fresh-faced?

(1) The 9th annual Art For Life Benefit took place on Saturday at Russell Simmons' East Hampton house. Despite tickets not selling out as fast as usual, the event played host to Aretha Franklin, Christy Turlington, Lorraine Bracco, Soledad O'Brien, David Paterson, Diddy, Padma Lakshmi, Brett Ratner, LA Reid, the cast of Real Housewives of New York, Al Roker, Kelly Bensimon, Alina Cho, Simon de Pury, and Porschla Coleman—whose break up with Simmons, judging by their behavior, is either incredibly amicable or no longer in effect. French Delay Jolie Birth To Prove They Can

Ryan Tate · 07/11/08 08:25AM
  • Angelina Jolie wants to give birth, already, and leave the hospital like a tough American patriot. But her lazy, arrogant French doctors will make her wait in agony for three more days so they can celebrate cutting off rich people's heads like communists and probably also so they can fornicate with their unbathed mistresses, get drunk and fantasize about terrorism. See what happens under socialized medicine? Celebrity divas are grossly inconvenienced! Awesome, right? [Showbiz Spy]

George Stephanopoulos's Wife's Icky Overshare

Emily · 04/02/07 05:10PM

Is George Stephanopoulos totally gay? It sure seems like it: After all, his wife horned her way all the way into someone else's A Night Out With in order to trumpet his rampant heterosexytimes desires! Said wife, Alexandra Wentworth, joined dancer and novelist Paulina Porizkova at the pedicure trough to exchange intimacies with each other and with the Times' Winter Miller. "Ms. Porizkova and Ms. Wentworth met on a television pilot and have been close ever since, even with Ms. Wentworth now living in Washington. They wasted not a moment catching up. With these two, there was no story too gross, no moment too humiliating to rehash. Most are unprintable here. The semi-sanitized highlight reel? Ms. Wentworth's husband still wants to make love daily and every year for Christmas he gives his wife a trainer." Hot! But does George use him too?

Tina Brown's talk show

Gawker · 02/13/03 08:25AM

Tina Brown, former editor of Talk, is reincarnated as host of a series of talk shows for CNBC. Which gives her something to write about in this week's column in the Times. She's been studying her rivals.
· Tim Russert "grills his guests with an amphibious glare and the pointed waving of a surgical pen."
· George Stephanopoulos? "Pretty boy George looks as if he is still doing a kind of spin."
· Tina's favorite is Larry King. She's fascinated by his on-air metabolism, "which combines iron-butt stamina with a toddler-like short attention span."
As for Tina herself, she wonders whether her style will transfer to television. "I got some of my best interviews as a magazine profile writer by being a furtive, watchful presence in a low-cut sweater." The low-cut sweater, at least, works.

Island of exile

Gawker · 12/31/02 10:52AM

The Clintons, Bob Rubin and George Stephanopoulos are all in New York, and Al Gore looked surprisingly at ease when in town for Saturday Night Live. With so many Clinton administration veterans, says New York Magazine, it's as if Manhattan were "a glamorous Elba, an outpost of forsaken ideals." Only difference: Napoleon came back from Elba.
