Working out in the open is one of the joys of working at Gawker. So — if just to head off those annoying "you'll do anything for the pageviews" comments — I thought I'd pass along this morning's memo from overlord Nick Denton to all of Gawker Media. In a nutshell, Nick's changing all of that for 2010 to a new bonus system that's going to be based on each site's monthly U.S. uniques instead of pageviews.

This memo just went out to employees of B-to-B publisher ALM (formerly Incisive Media), updating them on the year to come. Furloughs are back, but the outlook is slightly less dire than last year. The full memo:

After buying out or laying off close to 100 staffers, New York Times executive editor has sent out a newsroom memo claiming that no other job cuts are expected and that the pay cut that the paper imposed earlier this year will be rescinded in January.

The following memos went out to members of the Newspaper Guild, the union representing the New York Times newsroom. In the first memo, the Guild says it has successfully managed to make the NYT adhere to seniority rules regarding the year's final round of layoffs—coming today.
