What Does This Look Like to You?
In a statement today, the president of The Citadel military college in Charleston, South Carolina explained that the above photos of Citadel cadets show the young men “singing Christmas carols as part of a ‘Ghosts of Christmas Past’ skit.” I don’t know—looks like a KKK thing to me.
WCIV reports that the photos were uploaded to Facebook on Wednesday night by a woman who found them on Snapchat. According to her Facebook post, she discovered them after she was “approached by a guy she did not know on several social media platforms who reportedly told her ‘I always wanted a black girl.’”
She then checked his Snapchat story, which included photos and videos of Citadel cadets wearing white hoods and laughing. “I screenshotted and decided to share because I was so offended,” the woman wrote on Facebook. “Was this their idea of some kind of joke?”
According to Citadel president Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa, yes. He wrote on Facebook this afternoon that “preliminary reports are cadets were singing Christmas carols as part of a ‘Ghosts of Christmas Past’ skit.” He even called their outfits “pillowcases” instead of “hoods.” Nonetheless, Rosa said he finds the photos “offensive and disturbing.”
Hmm. Maybe he is disturbed because the photos show Citadel cadets looking like the KKK.
