Fun-lovin' rich gals Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina, California's Republican nominees for governor and senator, respectively, really lived large this weekend: They opened a joint appearance with Hispanic leaders by taking tequila shots! Impressed, Hispanics? Tequila is your "water," right?

Meg Whitman, specifically, has been having trouble with some Hispanic voters recently, ever since her undocumented ex-maid came forward and said various terrible things about Meg Whitman. And both Fiorina and Whitman, throughout their campaigns, have struggled to square their brands of California-style moderate conservatism with the hard-line anti-immigrant rhetoric emanating from the national Republican party.

What must these two ladies do to win the Hispanic heart? Maybe they could... take shots of that Hispanic thing that the Hispanics are always drinking? Sure, why not:

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina received a warm welcome here from the audience at the Hispanic 100 lifetime Achievement Award Gala. Before speaking, the two Republican candidates running for governor and Senate, respectively, downed shots of tequila as the crowd cheered them on.

Fiorina spoke first, saying, "Mucho gracias. This evening has spoiled me forever, from now on, I want to follow Paul Rodriguez [the emcee], and i think every speech should begin with a shot of Tequila." Then she let out a yell, "It was great!"

She's excited now? Wait until she tries Mexico's hamburger, the taco. That's next on the list.
