Joe Scarborough Is Launching the Most Boring Political Movement of All Time
If I asked you what the biggest problem facing American politics is, what would you say? Would you say "a lack of civility"? If so, get excited, because, oh boy do I have a political movement for you!
That's right! If you genuinely believe that the number-one thing wrong with American political culture is "hyper-partisanship" and not, say, the fact that one of the two major parties in this country has spent the last ten or so years electing actual crazy people to Congress, you will be deeply excited to know that MSNBC host Joe Scarborough and his deeply boring centrist friends—New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.), Sen. Joe Lieberman, (I-Conn.), former Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.), Rep. Chris Shays (R-Conn), ... [nods off]—are launching a "new national group dedicated to restoring civility in politics." Swoon! They had me at "Lieberman"!
Yes, "No Labels," (which was apparently launched last year? But is now being launched, also, next month? Get it together, centrists) which is the real name of this thing, is coming, and, according to Howard Fineman, it's got "organizational ambition and big-buck backers."
So get ready! Because nothing says "change for the better" like assembling a panel of unpopular former politicians to moan about how everyone ignored their technocratic center-right reform ideas, and nothing says "exciting" like "former New Jersey Governor Christie Todd Whitman."
